The Love Dare, Random Tidbits, What I Like This Week…

...So I came across this book by accident the other night at Target.  I thought it was really neat and wanted to share it with you guys.  Some of you may have heard about the movie “Fireproof” with Kirk Cameron.  Someone had told me about it before, but honestly I haven’t seen it.  From what I’ve heard, it’s a good movie for couples to watch as it may teach you how to save your relationship/marriage.  My marriage is great, thank you very much; but it doesn’t hurt to do everything in your power to keep it that way, right?
So I bought the Love Dare.  It consists of 40 dares that you have to do over a 40 day period.  One dare per day.  Easy enough! Before you get the dare, you need to read a page or two about the dare.  For example, day one is called “Love Is Patient”. So there’s about a page and a half or two about patience and how you should practice that with your spouse.  If you don’t have anything nice to say, then don’t say anything at all! (Just like the valuable lesson Thumper’s mother taught him in Bambi, remember? Random I know, but everything I hear that phrase I think of that scene) Anyway…the dare for this one is to not say anything negative to your spouse at all. It’s about practicing patience.  I thought it was pretty cool! So the hubby and I started today. We are not mean to each other, but sometimes we are not as patient as we should be, so this should be a good exercise.  I’ll keep you posted on our progress as we go along.  Check it out; let me know what you think! I don’t think you have to be religious at all in order to do this, but it’s definitely a good thing to do with your spouse/significant other in order to strengthen your bond.

Random Tidbits:
·         Awesome turned 87 last week! OK, no…she didn’t turn 87, I’m sure she’s going to kill me when she reads this.  But she did celebrate a birthday, and she remains as beautiful and lovely as ever.  So, Happy Birthday, Awesome! Hope you had a wonderful day!

·         Epcot’s International Food and Wine Festival:

Do check it out if you happen to be in Central Florida from September 30-November 13th. We went on Saturday and had a blast! We’ll have to go again soon. The park was packed as it was the 2nd day of the event.  I really didn’t want to drink; I wanted to sample the food but the lines were so long I only got to try one thing.  The Kalua Pork Slider at the Hawaii station.  For $3 this little slider was awesome! I loved the sweetness of the pineapple combined with the pork.  I wish it would have been warm instead of cold…but it was great! My dad tried the Pipeline beer and he said it was very light and good overall.

·         Any recommendations on good books? I love to read, but I haven’t come across anything good lately.  I am pretty open to any and all suggestions. I guess I go through phases when I read.  I went through my serial killer/true crime phase; then I read about prison and gangs, child abuse...from that I jumped to fiction and read a series on vampires with guns lol.  I love that series by the way!  These vampires don’t glisten, and don’t turn into mist.  I like my vampires a little more realistic, I guess you could say.  So if you are like me, then by all means check out the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.R. Ward.  I found it in the Romance section at the book store, but the books are action-packed!  And this brings me to one of my favorite movies: Underworld.  It’s your typical vampires vs. werewolves rivalry, but these vampires and the story itself is more based on science than myth (They are vampires because of a virus, they live way longer than humans but they do die vs. they’re some mythical creatures that have lived since the beginning of time, plus they have guns!)  Vampires with guns? Sign me up!    Oh, and if you happen to have any recommendations for good reads in Spanish, by all means let me know!

Here’s what I’m liking this week (from now on I’ll refer to this as WILTW)
·         Yankee Candle in Spiced Pumpkin:  Yummy! That’s all I have to say.  I love fall smells!

·         Moscato:  This is a sweet wine that is best paired with fruit or dessert, but I love how light it is! It relaxes me! You can find this pretty blue bottle of deliciousness at Target for $15...I believe

·         Nude lipstick by L’Oreal (I love Fairest Nude) It adds the perfect hint of color.  It’s a beautiful rosy/nude pink with just the right amount of shimmer. Actually, I think it’s almost matte.  But I love the way it looks.  If you like the Kim Kardashian look (lips only, minus the sluttiness lol) then try this lipstick. It’s awesome, plus it moisturizes your lips too!

·         Ni**as in Paris: I am loving this track by Jay-Z and Kanye West! There’s something about it that just pumps me up! I am also loving Love by Keisha Cole, and Lady Gaga's Yoü and I.  It’s so different from what  have heard from her so far. I think it’s a song that really showcases her beautiful voice.  It has a country feel to it, don't you think so?

ADELE!!!!
Omg… there isn’t a song by this girl that I don’t like. If she sang the Meow-Mix commercial, I’m sure I’d buy it on iTunes.  She is that great! I love “Chasing Pavements” the SoHo live version. It's on iTunes if you want to check it out.

·         Almost anything in a wine/berry color.  I think it’s a hot color this season!

·         This Blog!: I know it doesn’t look great yet, but it’s a great outlet. I like that some of you have told me that you read it and that you like it. That makes me happy.  I am working on the layout and the overall design.  I’m sure you’ll see a few changes here and there until it looks the way I want it to.  But I love having this space and being able to talk about all my random stuff.

I think that’s it for now!  I look forward to your book suggestions! I really want to read more, so all suggestions are welcome.
Have a great week, talk to you soon!
